These Sungold tomato plants grow long stems with big space between each truss.
They were pushing against the cover at the top of my 2.5m/8ft high polytunnel.

See how we drop the plants.
Now they are manageable because all the growing leaves are accessible, together with developing fruit trusses. We can grow high quality fruit into September, and it's easier to keep plants free of late blight.

We do this for any variety which grows extra long stems, including some Oxheart types and Berner Rose.
